Survey: Experiences with Past Floods
A research team from West
Virginia University and SUNY College of
Environmental Science and Forestry is seeking
insights from West Virginians on their experiences
with past floods and preparation for future floods.
The team is conducting an online survey on the topic
and any WV resident 18-years or older is encouraged
to participate. The survey should take 20-30 minutes
to complete, and insights will help the research
team create an online resource to help increase
flood resiliency for West Virginia communities.
Anyone who takes the survey can choose to be entered
into a raffle for one of eight $250 gift cards. For
more information, visit our Social Ministry page.
Survey closes 1 May 2024.

Tell It in the Mountains: Director Sought
A search has been announced for the position of Director
of the Go Tell It in the Mountains Initiative, a
grant funded initiative of the Allegheny, Northwest
Pennsylvania, and upper Susquehanna Synods. This is a
full-time position open to both clergy and laity. For more
information, click here. The
initiative has three main goals:
- equip ordained and lay preachers to utilize
traditional and non-traditional preaching techniques to
develop skills and practices that will communicate the
gospel message in a compelling way;
- recruit and engage aspiring preachers through a
variety of compelling preaching strategies that educate,
empower, and support competency in their ministry; and
- invite existing members of congregations and new
community audiences within our three Lutheran partner
synods (Allegheny, NW Penn, and USS) to respond to
compelling preaching opportunities and content by
integrating the gospel message into their attitudes,
actions and ministries in daily life.

Call Openings
We have one active MSP at the moment and a couple in
drafting. We also have some settings in which a call could
be considered without an active MSP. On top of that, there
is potential for contract appointments. With several clergy
vacancies across the territory, there are opportunities for
clergy interested in serving in the WV-WMD Synod. Visit the clergy
page to find out whats available (or will be available
once the MSP is completed).

If you haven't checked out the members portal...
Don't forget to take a peek of the members
portal (click the button at right near the top of this
page). It's not password protected. We only call it the
"members portal" because it's mostly stuff that deals with
the internal workings of the synod. Visitors looking for
more general information about the synod, will probably find
the "guest portal" more interesting. |
